Back from Croatia

We arrived back from our vacation in Croatia today, so I have alot of pictures to show you all. We landed in Zagreb and rented a car for the drive down to Togir. Our plan was to take the highway half way and then get off in Zadar to eat dinner and continue on along the coast. All I can say is that the drive was quite interesting. The speed limit along the coast was at times 60km/h and dad would go around 80km/h... but amazingly he would get passed by a huge bus going 120km/h minimum. Oh, and I forgot to mention that is a 2 lane road at night. I guess dad has a little to learn about driving in Croatia. Well, we had some excellent Coratian-Italian food in Zadar (goat cheese from the island of Pag and an amazing calzone) and took a look around a little. Here we are in Zadar...

We didn't get to Togir until late in the evening, but we did manage to find our apartment after a bit of exploring. Here we are at Antonio's apartments the following morning...

Antonio and his dad took really good care of us and the apartments were great. They helped put our itinary for the day together and off we went. First stop was the beach! This was my first time seeing a beach and why not have it be the Adriatic Sea? Mom and dad took a whole lot of pictures. The beach was pretty rocky so I couldn't really put my feet in the sand. Here I am just checking out the water...

Then dad and I went for a little swim. Well dad swam and I just took a careful dip. Mommy says that this next pitcure should go in a travel brochure....

The beach was so nice we just sat on a bench and looked at the sea for a while....

After all of the playing around at the beach and a quick meal, I got really really tired so mommy had to hold me while I fell asleep. I think they kept enjoying the view, though!

After the beach, we went to Split. There used to be a big palace there, and the ruins still look pretty cool. Mom was a little worried that I would get too hot without a cap, so we did a little shopping first. None of the caps looked really good on me, but we found this really neat bandana that seems to fit my personality - so you'll see me wearing it in the next pictures. Mommy really liked the bandana too! Here I am touching the toe of this statue for good luck...

And here is what the streets inside the palace looked like...

We even went into the basement and I found this pedastal, so here I am standing on it doing my impersonation of a statue...

We left Trogir on Sunday and drove back up to Zagreb. We left pretty early so we could dhck out the city. One thing I have to say about the city is that I saw about 100,000 cafes! It was packed. We ended up asking a local for the best food, which took us out of the cafe-infested center and into a local brewery - and from the looks of mommy and daddy, the food (and beer) was great! Here we are in front of the theater in Zagreb, we thought this was a pretty cool-looking building...

Visiting Croatia was such a great time, we have tons more pictures but hopefully these give you a flavor of our trip. This week things are busy because we are getting things organized for our move back stateside... and well it is also the week the local casino has a big poker tournament running. I'm told this photo and a bad beat story is all dad has left...

You look like you had a great trip to Croatia. We're happy that you were able to visit the area where your great grandma (Bubby)and Deda came from.
