Train table project
Every time I go to the local toy store I get excited to test drive their trains on the train table they have displayed. I have a full set of trains, many of them thanks to the Eric and Kirsten family, but I know better than to think mom and dad would get me a train table... so I started thinking of ways to build my own. First, I had Tha tha help draw up some plans and a BOM...

After about 3 or 4 trips to Home Depot we had the materials, so it was time to start cutting...

A few construction delays, measurement errors, several more trips to the store for materials, purchasing and borrowing some tools (that hack saw just wasn't cutting the wood very well) and finally a table at just the right height...

It even includes an integral tunnel and ramp. I'm planning to sub out a paint job with Pati's help this week if I can raise some more money for the project. I found out that the table in the store cost $260... if you look carefully at the plans my budget was about the same. However, with the big overrun on engineering time and skilled labor I think I still owe mom and dad about $1750.... but, as the plans say the project was "priceless."
If I get a chance I'll get a video of this thing in action sometime soon.
