First day in Taipei
Wow, what a first day! My mom had a talk at national Taiwan university today so one of her students aunts took me around town. But first, we had an amazing breakfasts:
Yup-- that's what I'm talking about- pork buns for breakfast! (Baos). Yummy!
We woke up at like 4am because of jet lag so mom made me do kimono in the hotel room:
Then we went out and I met my moms students aunt and cousin (who didn't speak much English, but we did have th common language of video games,)
I had so much fun with this family. They took me to a famous mall, where there is this amazing Ferris wheel and tons of video games,
Oh man it was so fun. Mom in the meantime visited some mechanical engineering labs and wanted me to post this picture:
We met back at the hotel room at 5pm, and then moms host and my host both took us to the hot tourist spot, Taipei 101! It used to be the tallest building in the world, but now it is only the 4th. Mom and I were not too impressed because it took about an hour wait to get up and 30min wait to get down. The coolest part was the elevator-2nd fastest in the world! So fast my ears popped!
That last picture is a really cool damping ball they have in floor 88 to protect against typhoons and earthquakes. Supposedly last year during a typhoon it moved almost 1 meter!
Note that we had to walk through miles of stores and wait for 30min just to get out of here! That was so annoying.
After that, we had dinner at some famous place movie stars go to. The food was awesome- dumplings and noodles and fried rice and dessert which was a bun with what seemed like gravel inside. When I got home I went straight to bed. All in all a good day!
